TL;DR
  • HONOR is unveiling the Watch GS Pro, a rugged smartwatch with 25-day battery life in normal use.
  • It can even route you home without a phone.
  • It’s also introducing a Watch ES focused on fashion and fitness, including a personal virtual coach.

Honor’s smartwatches have had trouble standing out, but that might change with the two models it’s introducing at IFA 2020.

The HONOR Watch GS Pro is a rugged model built for outdoor enthusiasts, with MIL-STD 810G heat, shock, and water resistance in a reinforced polycarbonate (read: plastic) body good for depths of up to 164 feet. However, its real draw may be its battery life. The wristwear has a 700mAh power pack good for up to 25 days of battery life — you could theoretically last through a camping trip without worrying about a recharge.

You can also expect over 100 workout modes, three snow sport modes (downhill skiing, cross-country, and snowboarding), and an SpO2 monitor to track blood oxygen saturation. It’s particularly good for hikers with a “route back” option that will help you retrace your route without a phone. You aren’t likely to get lost, then.

The screen is ‘just’ a 1.39-inch AMOLED dial, but there is a stainless steel bezel to add a higher-quality feel. HONOR will offer the device in suitably outdoor-oriented colors that include Camo Blue, Charcoal Black, and a rock-inspired Marl White.

The HONOR Watch ES, meanwhile, is a “fitness fashion” wearable meant more for everyday exercise. It also has 164ft depth support and an SpO2 sensor, but HONOR is more interested in guiding your workouts with a first-for-HONOR personal virtual coach that uses animations to help you complete routines and whole courses. There are 95 total workout modes.

The display will be more pleasing to the eye than the GS Pro’s. The Watch ES touts a 1.64-inch AMOLED dial with relatively thin side bezels (0.95mm, or 0.037 inches) and always-on watch faces. Battery life is ‘just’ 10 days, but that should be enough to get through an active week with some headroom. The watch will come in Meteorite Black, Coral Pink, and Icelandic White colorways.

Both the HONOR Watch GS Pro and HONOR Watch ES will be available starting September 7 in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. The more premium Watch GS Pro is priced at €249.99/£249.99 (~$296), while the Watch ES is more affordable at €99.99/£99.99 (~$117).
