TL;DR
  • A new leak has apparently revealed the core specs of HONOR’s first foldable phone.
  • The HONOR Magic V could pack the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, a 50MP primary camera, and a 120Hz foldable screen.
  • The company has yet to announce the device’s official launch date.

HONOR confirmed it’s bringing a foldable phone to market in the coming weeks. While we’ve seen teaser images of the HONOR Magic V, we’ve yet to get an idea of its specifications. Now, tipster Digital Chat Station has published a list of specs seemingly related to a “prototype” Magic V model.

The phone could use two displays similarly to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. The external display may house a centered punch hole, while the inner screen uses a top-left selfie camera cutout. HONOR will reportedly settle for 90Hz and 120Hz refresh rates for outer and inner screens, respectively.

According to its tipped internal specs, the HONOR Magic V could be among the swiftest foldables on the market. Digital Chat Station believes the phone could launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This would give it a notable leg up over its foldable rivals. There’s no word on battery size, but 66W charging is said to feature.

As for the phone’s imaging smarts, a 50MP camera reportedly leads the line. It’s unclear if that shooter will use the Sony IMX700 as seen on the HONOR Magic 3 Pro Plus. If you were hoping for a periscope camera, you might be left disappointed. The existence of a telephoto shooter’s also unclear.

Finally, the HONOR Magic V is said to debut with Android 12 out of the box.

HONOR has yet to announce a concrete launch date for its first foldable, but judging by the gathering rumors and teasers, we should expect its arrival shortly.
