This Android phone maker just launched a projector that thinks it’s a tablet

Honor is dipping into home-theater gear again, this time with an unexpected twist. At first glance, the new Honor Choice Bee AI Projector Air looks like a basic compact projector, but it also supports stylus input and gesture controls. In other words, the device can turn your wall into a makeshift writing surface. It’s an odd combo that is definitely niche, yet potentially useful for your next game night. For now, the device has only launched in China, but it introduces a unique angle to the budget projector space.

The device itself is lightweight and unobtrusive, with an adjustable stand that tilts the unit up to 160 degrees, meaning you can project onto a ceiling. For specs, Honor lists 1080p resolution and 280 CVIA lumens of brightness. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, HDMI 2.0, USB, and a headphone jack. It also features a built-in 5W speaker.

As mentioned, the projector’s standout feature is its ability to accept stylus input directly on the projection surface. In theory, that opens the door for sketching, quick notes, or simple games. In practice, the experience will depend heavily on tracking accuracy and software support, two things Honor hasn’t yet detailed. There’s also gesture control, which isn’t always the most reliable input method, but it’s certainly unusual to see this level of interactivity on a budget projector.

The device launched at CNY 599 (roughly $84), putting it firmly in impulse-buy territory. More importantly, facing that low of a price, shoppers’ expectations should stay grounded. Honor isn’t trying to compete with high-end home-theater gear. The stylus feature could be fun or forgettable depending on execution, and the overall package reads more like an entry-level projector with an unusual hobby than a category disruptor. Yet, for the price, it’s a curious device with fun potential. There’s no word yet on whether Honor plans to launch this model internationally. For now, it will be released in China only on December 8, in white and purple.
