Update, June 30, 2019 (12:00PM EST): We have pricing and release information for the Honor 20 Pro in the U.K. Check out the original article below to learn how much the phone will cost!
Original article, May 21, 2019 (11:08 AM ET): Today, Huawei sub-brand Honor launched the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro. The two new smartphones are notable as they are the first quad-camera phones from the brand. Unlike most competitors, Honor is using the quad-lens setup to focus on macro photography, with a dedicated macro lens on each device.
The idea of even launching the Honor 20 series was thrown into question due to the recent news about U.S. companies — most prominently Google — cutting off connections with Huawei (and, by proxy, Honor). However, the Honor 20 launch went as planned; the idea of buying an Honor 20 or Honor 20 Pro might be something you’ll want to hold off on for the time being, though.
If you are still thinking about buying a phone in the Honor 20 series, you’ll want to know where and when you can get one and how much it will cost you. Check out our Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro price and availability roundup below for all the current information!
Honor 20 series release date and availability
Honor launched the Honor 20 series in London on May 21, 2019.
At that event, it revealed that the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro will be available “soon.” It’s possible that the controversy surrounding Huawei in the U.S. delayed the announcement of specific launch information.
However, eventually Honor revealed the launch dates for the Honor 20 in various countries around the world:
- June 21 — France, Germany, Malaysia, Russia, and the United Kingdom
- June 24 — Italy and the Netherlands
- June 25 — India
- June 28 — Poland
Spain has no specific release date with an “early July” estimate.
The Honor 20 Pro will launch August 1 in the U.K., with availability in other regions still unknown. The device is currently available in Honor’s native China.
Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro price
Honor’s bread and butter is making powerful smartphones geared towards young people on the cheap, and the Honor 20 series doesn’t disappoint in that regard. However, the launch event left us with a lot of unanswered questions as far as pricing goes throughout the world.
In Europe, we do know that the Honor 20 will start at 499 euros (~$556) for the variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The Honor 20 Pro price in Europe will be 599 euros (~$668) for the base version with an 8GB/256GB configuration.
In the United Kingdom, the Honor 20 in the 6GB/128GB setup will start at 400 pounds (~$509). Pre-orders for that device come with an Honor Watch Magic for free, which is a sweet perk. The Honor 20 Pro in the 8GB/256GB setup will cost 549 pounds (~$671). Pre-orders for the phone include a free Honor Watch Magic.
In India, the Honor 20 goes on sale starting June 25 and, for the first time, the company is offering a buy-back guarantee that lets you get back 90-percent of the value of the phone in case you return it in the first 90 days. The Honor 20 is priced at 32,999 rupees (~$475) while the higher-end, Honor 20 Pro will cost 39,999 rupees (~$575) if it ever gets a release date.
We will update this post with more information on pricing and availability as we discover it.
