Promo images suggest HONOR 20 Pro could have pop-up camera

If true, this would mean the earlier leaks of a display cutout camera were wrong.

A leaked promotional image of the HONOR 20 Pro.

Considering that the HONOR 20 and HONOR 20 Pro will launch in two weeks (we learned all about the HONOR 20 Lite yesterday), we know very little about the upcoming mid-range flagships. We don’t even know what kind of camera system the Pro variant will have on the front.

Originally, we saw leaks (via GSM Arena) that suggested the HONOR 20 Pro would have a cutout selfie camera, akin to the Samsung Galaxy S10. Now, though, we have some leaked promotional images which strongly suggest the Pro will actually have a pop-up camera instead (also via GSM Arena).

You can see the leaked promo photos below. Of the images that show the front of the device, there very clearly is no cutout camera depicted. Check them out:

There are a lot of possible explanations for this. The first possibility is that these photos are doctored and the real device has a cutout camera, as we saw in the previous leak. The other possibility is that these photos are legit and the previously-leaked photos were either fake or possibly photos of the vanilla HONOR 20 instead. If that’s the case, the HONOR 20 Pro could have a pop-up cam and the HONOR 20 could have a cutout.

The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro, for what it’s worth, will likely adopt the latter strategy. Therefore, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that HONOR is going to take the same route.

We only have two weeks left to wait before the HONOR 20 and HONOR 20 Pro land, so we’ll find out more soon. In the meantime, click below to learn all about the budget sibling of those devices.
