The Pokemon Go-like game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is here!

Update, June 20, 2019 (10:30 am ET): At long last, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is available for download for those in the U.S., U.K., New Zeland, and Australia. The game wasn’t set to be released until tomorrow, June 21, but Niantic has set it live early for users in several regions to start playing.

Unfortunately, Niantic’s servers appear to be failing due to the current number of people trying to play the game. Something similar happened when Pokemon Go hit the Play Store. If history is repeating itself, we could be waiting several days or even weeks before the game is stable to play. Additionally, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite doesn’t work on phones running Android Q Beta 4.

We still don’t have a set launch period for other regions. Niantic will hopefully provide more information soon. Click the button below to start playing!

Original post, March 11, 2019 (11:30 am ET): If you’ve ever wanted to play Pokémon Go but in the Harry Potter universe, then have we got some good news for you. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is basically that game, and it’s in pre-registration right now at the Google Play Store.

By pre-registering for the game, you’re agreeing to let the Play Store send you a notification as soon as the game becomes available for download. You also could potentially be offered early access to the game, although there are no guarantees for this.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is created by the same company behind Pokémon Go — Niantic. It’s an officially licensed property, so you’re going to see all sorts of characters from the Harry Potter universe, including Harry, Ron, Hermione, Hagrid, Buckbeak, the Sorting Hat, Death Eaters, etc.

Just like with Pokémon Go, you’ll use augmented reality technology to find characters and items throughout the real world, engage in battles, and otherwise, build up your stats.
