First announced in March at the 2019 Game Developers Conference, Google Stadia is Google’s upcoming service that will stream high-end console and PC games from cloud servers. It will work on big-screen TVs via Google’s Chromecast Ultra dongle, and via your Chrome browser on desktops, laptops, Pixel 3 smartphones, and tablets. Games will be supported with up to 4K resolution and up to 60fps.

However, this service won’t be free to use — at least not initially. You will have to pay something to check out the service for yourself. Here’s what you need to know Google Stadia’s price, release date, and availability.

Google Stadia price: What will it cost?

Google Stadia will have two pricing models. One is called Stadia Pro, which costs $9.99 a month in the U.S. and will offer access to a bundle of older PC and console games all at once in a Netflix-style business model. It will support up to 4K resolution and 60fps for games. However, newer games will be priced individually on Stadia. The price for this service will be $11.99 in Canada. It’s not clear how much each of the individual games not included with Stadia Pro will cost.

Google Stadia Founders Edition

Google was selling a limited “Founder’s Edition” version pf Stadia for $129 in the US. It included a Night Blue color controller and a Chromecast Ultra dongle. It also included three months of Stadia Pro, a buddy pass for three months of Stadia Pro to give to a friend, and first access to claim your Stadia name.  However, Google announced that the Stadia Founder’s Edition had sold out in the US and the other launch countries on October 22.

Google is still selling a Premiere Edition for Stadia in all launch countries. It bundles a Clearly White Stadia Controller, a Chromecast Ultra, three months of Stadia Pro, and the full Destiny 2 collection. The price remains $129.

Individual Stadia controllers, but not in the Night Blue color, will be sold separately later for $69 in the US.

Google has also announced it will launch free access to Stadia sometime in 2020. However, no games will be included in this free tier, and when you do purchase and stream games on Stadia for free, they will be limited to 1080p resolution.

Google Stadia launch date: When will it be available?

Google Stadia will launch on November 19, 2019.

What countries can access it?

Google has announced that Stadia will be available in 14 countries. They include the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Belgium, France, Finland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Germany, Ireland, and Denmark. The Google Stadia app is already available to download ahead of the actual launch date.
