TL;DR
  • November Pixel update hasn’t arrived, breaking the first-Tuesday release pattern that Google has followed for most monthly updates this year.
  • Android security database entries and reported release candidate builds suggest Android 17 QPR2 could arrive earlier than its expected December release.
  • Google hasn’t confirmed an early QPR2 rollout or explained the November update’s absence.

Google’s Pixel update calendar has been quite predictable this year, until November apparently went off-script. Regular security patches have generally landed on the first Tuesday of the month, while bigger Android releases have taken a little longer. But November’s first Tuesday has come and gone without an update, raising an interesting question: Is Google preparing something bigger than the usual security fixes?

A Reddit user believes the answer could be Android 17 QPR2, which has generally been expected in December.

Their theory draws on Google’s Android security vulnerability database, which contains November security fixes tagged 17-qpr2-next:2026-11-01. The user also points to an unusually large collection of Pixel-specific driver and firmware changes, arguing that such extensive updates typically accompany quarterly releases rather than routine monthly patches.

Adding to the intrigue, BetaWiki, which tracks Android builds, lists CP4A.261105.040.A1 as a final release candidate alongside another build ending in .C3. Both carry November-dated identifiers, which may strengthen the case for an early QPR2 rollout.

There’s some precedent for the timing argument. Google’s March QPR update arrived on March 3, while stable Android 17 followed on June 16 and QPR1 landed on September 15. By comparison, most regular monthly updates this year arrived on the first Tuesday. Here’s how Google rolled out updates this year:

  • January 12: January security update
  • February 3: February security update (first Tuesday)
  • March 3: March quarterly update and Pixel Drop (first Tuesday)
  • April 7: April security update (first Tuesday)
  • May 5: May security update (first Tuesday)
  • June 16: Stable Android 17 release and June Pixel Drop
  • July 7: July security update (first Tuesday)
  • August 4: August security update (first Tuesday)
  • September 15: Android 17 QPR1 update and September Pixel Drop
  • October 6: October security update (first Tuesday)

Still, none of this confirms that Google has changed its release plans. Security database entries don’t establish a public launch date, and the reported builds aren’t official release announcements. Last year’s Android 16 QPR2 also arrived in December.

Google could simply be running behind with November’s regular security update. But if the clues are pointing in the right direction, Pixel owners might get their next quarterly upgrade a month earlier than expected.
