TL;DR
  • A Pixel 6a has emerged on Facebook Marketplace ahead of the July 28 sale date.
  • The listing has since been removed, but it indeed looks like a production unit.

It emerged last week that Pixel 7 series prototypes were sold online, coming months before the phones were to make their expected October debut. Now, it looks like Google’s recently launched Pixel 6a has also been listed for sale online ahead of its official release to market.

Nils Ahrensmeier of reliable news outlet Technik News spotted a Facebook Marketplace listing for the Pixel 6a. The listing, which has since been removed, shows off the mid-range Pixel in a variety of photos too. You can view these saved images below.

Ahrensmeier suggests that this listing was made by the same person who recently uploaded a Pixel 6a unboxing video on TikTok (mirror).

Either way, the Pixel 6a is only meant to go on pre-order from July 21, with sales starting from July 28. So someone has their hands on what appears to be a retail unit more than a month ahead of schedule. It’s unclear whether Google will or has already remotely wiped this Pixel 6a following the listing’s removal. However, we’re guessing that the company might not take this approach as it doesn’t seem to be a prototype unit.

In case you missed it, the Pixel 6a has a $449 price tag and is powered by the same Tensor processor found in the Pixel 6 line. The phone is also equipped with a 6.1-inch FHD+ 60Hz OLED screen, 6GB of RAM, a 4,410mAh battery, and a dual 12MP rear camera system.
