Would a pink Google Pixel 3 be enough to distract you from the XL's giant notch?

The Pixel family could get a little more colorful for the third-generation.

Google Pixel 3 teaser pink
TL;DR
  • A fourth Pixel 3 colorway has potentially been uncovered.
  • The pink shade was discovered in the source code for an official Pixel 3 teaser site from Google Japan.
  • The code refers to the four colors as pink, black, green, and blue, although this has caused a bit of confusion.

Google Japan recently hinted at three colorways for the upcoming Pixel 3, but it turns out the interactive teaser may contain a hidden fourth shade.

Twitter user Cas van Dinter spotted what appears to be a reference to the pink shade in the page’s source code. Further digging apparently revealed the same silhouette-style design we saw previously, only this time the phone’s body is a soft shade of pink while the outline is white in color.

This would be a first for the Pixel family, which has traditionally opted for simple greys, blacks, and whites (or a neat panda combo).

While the new color hint is the most interesting part of van Dinter’s discovery, there’s a little bit of confusion over the naming schemes within the code.

Pink is fairly self-explanatory, as is black, but the other two — green and blue — don’t exactly tally with the previously leaked images, which appear to be white and turquoise. There’s some speculation that the names refer to the color of the power button, but it’s impossible to confirm anything at this stage.

Personally, I think the two-tone color looks great in this peach-like shade, although I imagine the neat white accents will unfortunately be toned down for the final product if it turns out to be legitimate.

Also, for those commenting that there’s no notch in any of these images, it’s pretty clear that this is the meant to be the rear of the phone. It looks pretty certain at this point that the Pixel 3 XL will have a giant notch. Sorry.

We’ll find out for sure if a pink Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL is on the way on October 9 at a Google hardware launch event. For now, let us know your thoughts on a possible pink Pixel in the comments below.
