- A call for YouTubers, purportedly by Google or an affiliated agency, may have revealed a launch date for the Pixel 3.
- The listing on Famebit.com apparently points to an October 4 launch date for Google’s phones.
- If confirmed, this would be the third straight year we see Pixel phones on October 4.
Android enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting information on the upcoming Google Pixel 3, and it looks like we may have received an announcement date. According to This is Tech Today (h/t: Android Police), a leak on content marketing platform Famebit suggests the new phone is coming on October 4, 2018.
Famebit is a Google-owned platform designed to connect companies with content creators. So if a brand wants to work with YouTubers to create sponsored content, for example, they can use this platform to send out a call.
The Famebit listing, which may have been written by Google or one of its agencies, reveals the company was apparently looking for Canadian content creators for the Pixel 3 launch on October 4. Again, we aren’t 100 percent sure this is indeed Google’s work or the work of an agency, so don’t put all your faith in this listing.
Nevertheless, if it is a hoax, it’s a very convincing one — check it out below.
The date would line up with previous Pixel launches, which have all taken place on October 4 too; any other supposed reveal date for Google’s phones would’ve been a surprise.
The latest Pixel 3 rumors suggest we’ll be getting two handsets at launch like in previous years: a standard Pixel 3 model and a larger Pixel 3 XL model. It’s believed that the phones will be powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor, and that at least one model will have a display notch.
Leaks also suggest the new Pixels will have a single-camera setup on the back while two selfie cameras are said to appear on the front. Last year’s phones delivered fantastic photos and portraits from the single main camera, as discussed in our Pixel 2 review, so we’re looking especially forward to exploring the Pixel 3’s camera experience.
