This is how Google's 'Create My Widget' app will work on Android and Googlebook OS

Google announced Create My Widget ahead of I/O 2026, promising to let users create custom widgets that fit their exact needs. In the months since, we haven’t heard much about it — until now. Google has finally listed the Create My Widget app on the Play Store, giving us a solid first look at what to expect.

The Create My Widget app’s Play Store listing (first spotted by 9to5Google) has plenty of screenshots showing the app’s UI on both Android phones and Googlebook laptops. The app will let users quickly create a custom widget by simply describing what they want in natural language, with Gemini handling the rest.

The app will also show widget categories for users to try, including combo widgets, important dates, weather alerts, daily brief, and more. Each category will include several widget ideas to serve as a quick starting point. Users can also edit and refine the widgets they create before finally adding them to their home screen.

On Googlebook laptops, the app could feature even more categories, such as events and travel, daily habits, and tools and tips. The widget creation flow will likely remain the same: users will be able to customize preset templates or describe their requirements in natural language, leaving the heavy lifting to Gemini.

The app’s Play Store version is “1.27.983746769.0-desktop_release,” likely in preparation for the recently announced Googlebook laptops, which will start shipping soon.
