Samsung strikes again, Galaxy S4 LTE-A Lollipop rollout begins

Samsung continues to rollout Lollipop to more devices, this time reaching the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A.

Published onFebruary 6, 2015

While just about every OEM has seemingly been more aggressive with rolling out Lollipop to devices than they have been with previous Android updates, the real surprise is that Samsung has been at the forefront when it comes to bringing Lollipop to its devices, introducing Android 5.0 to both older and newer members of the Note and Galaxy S family. Now a new report says that the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A is joining the pack.

News of this update comes to us from SamMobile, where it says that the GS4 LTE-A (GT-I9506) is rolling out in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Germany. All three regions have the same build number for the update, I9506XXUDOA6, and the upgrade is based on Android 5.0.1. Upgrading can be done either through Samsung Kies or through an OTA, though the later option will require more of a wait.

While Material Design elements are much lesser notable than they would be on a stock Android device, there’s still several changes including brighter colors, an updated multitasking interface, a new lock screen and the priority system for Lollipop. There’s also quite a few bug fixes introduced, though there’s several new introduced — but that’s a discussion for another day.

What do you think of Samsung’s updating schedule for Lollipop? Impressed by what you’ve seen so far?
