Update, January 17 at 11:56 a.m. ET: As promised, Hothead Games has launched its newest mobile game, the fantasy-themed action-RPG, Forged Fantasy. You can download the free-to-play game now from the Google Play Store.
Original article, January 10 at 9:01 a.m. ET: Hothead Games, the studio behind the Google Play award winning Hero Hunters, is back with another hero-based action RPG, Forged Fantasy, that officially launches on Jan. 17.
Forged Fantasy swaps the post-apocalyptic sci-fi of Hero Hunters for a more traditional fantasy style with mages, druids, archers, and everything else you’d expect to find in a Tolkien-esque adventure.
All of the action in Forged Fantasy takes place in third-person and like any hero-based game, there are plenty of characters to collect. These range from melee-centric soldiers to ranged battle mages, and plenty of other classes with unique abilities.
Once you’ve selected your team of heroes (you can unlock more heroes in gacha-style loot chests), you can take them into real-time PvP battles, raids, daily events, and other co-op activities with friends or in an “Alliance” clan.
There’s also a fully fledged story mode which Hothead says features “hundreds” of missions, set across a variety of different Realms. The studio also says that more heroes will be added to the roster in future updates.
You can pre-register to play at Google Play via the button below, or if you’re an iOS user you can pre-register here.
As with Hero Hunters, there are in-app purchases that can help you progress much faster, but you can ignore these if you’d prefer to grind your way to victory.
