Google teases the Fitbit Edge, and it looks like it's nearly here
Oct 9, 2026 — 1:35 PM ET
- Google’s slowly starting to overhaul the Fitbit tracker lineup, starting with the screenless Fitbit Air earlier this year.
- Leaks have since revealed an upcoming model with a small screen, dubbed the Fitbit Edge.
- Now Google is officially sharing some early Edge imagery, while teasing news for this coming Monday.
Wearables aren’t one-size-fits-all, as has become increasingly clear with the proliferation of screenless trackers, including this year’s Fitbit Air. If you find these a little too minimalist, though, yet still don’t need the complexity and power trade-offs of a full-blown smartwatch, a basic screen-equipped tracker might be right up your alley. Lately, we’ve been hearing about Google’s possible plans for a new model like this called the Fitbit Edge, and today we get to check out an official teaser.
Leaks have already given us a really great early look at the Fitbit Edge, detailing everything from color options, to connectivity, to battery life. With all that info, it felt like a launch was quickly becoming an inevitability. Now Google’s removing any lingering doubt:
Over on X, the official Google Health account shares this close-up look at the Fitbit Edge hardware, while also causally dropping that date: Monday, October 12. We don’t yet know if that could mean just a product announcement, or actually getting sales started straight away, but either way, it looks like we’ll be getting the full story on the Fitbit Edge in just a few more days.
What we’ve learned so far, at least, paints the Fitbit Edge as a tracker with a 1.34-inch always-on AMOLED display, support for over 40 exercise modes, and even a replaceable battery. Expect a full lineup of sensors on board, including SpO2 and skin temperature, and for the wearable to attempt to extrapolate insulin resistance and blood pressure data from those.
Based on what we’ve heard about pricing, it’s likely that Google will sell the Fitbit Edge for around $200. For comparison, the Fitbit Air starts at $100, while the similar-looking Fitbit Charge 6 goes for $160. The Pixel Watch 5, meanwhile, runs shoppers at least $350.
That combination of features and an easier-to-swallow price tag could add up to making the Fitbit Edge an especially attractive option this holiday season.
