TL;DR
  • There will be an EverQuest mobile game at some point in the future, per the game’s publisher Daybreak Game Company.
  • There will also be a mobile version of its popular battle royale game H1Z1.
  • The H1Z1 and EverQuest mobile versions are the result of a new partnership between Daybreak and NantWorks.

The MMORPG genre didn’t start with EverQuest in 1999, but few would say that the game didn’t revolutionize the genre or set the tone for the gaming landscape as it is today. Now we have news that an EverQuest mobile game is imminent, direct from the current publisher of the title, Daybreak Game Company.

Although the original EverQuest launched nearly 20 years ago, an EverQuest mobile game would likely do exceptionally well in the current gaming market with the popularity of MMORPGs still at a fever pitch and mobile gaming in general’s enormous success.

Along with EverQuest mobile, there will also be a mobile version of Daybreak’s more recent title, H1Z1. The battle royale game — akin to Fortnite and PUBG — is currently available only on PC and the Sony PlayStation 4.

The mobile releases of these two games are the result of a new partnership between Daybreak and NantWorks. The hope is that bringing H1Z1 and EverQuest to mobile will result in an expansion of the two titles into the burgeoning e-sports market.

The press release related to this news does not give any indication of launch dates for the titles, nor if the games will come to iOS, Android, or both. However, if the goal is to aggressively expand into the e-sports market, it’s likely the games will come to both platforms relatively soon.
