DxOMark already has a camera review for the just-released Xiaomi Mi 9 smartphone. With an overall score of 107 for the rear camera, the Xiaomi Mi 9 now sits at third place on the organization’s list of reviewed smartphones.

Third on the list makes the Xiaomi Mi 9 better than all Apple iPhones, but not as good as the HUAWEI P20 Pro or the HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro, according to DxOMark.

It should be noted that there is no score available for the front camera, a review DxOMark just recently started doing. Currently, the Google Pixel 3 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 share the title for the highest overall score on the selfie cam.

It should also be noted that the Mi 9 scored the highest ever in DxOMark’s video tests. With a score of 99, the Mi 9 is the best smartphone you can buy for video footage, according to DxOMark.

In its lengthy review, DxOMark compliments the Mi 9 for its excellent white balance and color levels, as well as its quick and efficient autofocus system. However, the phone also receives some dings for its slightly limited dynamic range and low contrast.

For an example of how the Mi 9 compares to the iPhone XS Max and the HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro, check out the images below:

As you can see above, the zoomed-in crop on the Xiaomi Mi 9 is better than the iPhone XS Max, but a little bit mushy compared to the HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro.

DxOMark has plenty of other photo samples and comparisons in its review.

Even if you don’t put much stock into DxOMark scores for various reasons, it can’t be denied that Xiaomi is offering the full package with the Mi 9. With a top-of-the-line camera, a state-of-the-art processor, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and many other high-end features, a Mi 9 gives you most everything you could want for hundreds less than the competition.
