One of the most exciting things about the new device is its price. It will retail for $129, making it way cheaper than its predecessor that launched with a $299 price tag. DJI has also switched to an internal battery, which is said to give the Osmo Mobile 2 up to 15 hours of battery life. For comparison, the first generation of the device was only good for up to five hours of use.

The device also allows you to mount your smartphone in portrait mode, a feature missing from the original Osmo. This means you won’t have to hold the gimbal sideways anymore to shoot in portrait.

Additionally, the Osmo Mobile 2 also has a few features on board we’ve seen on its predecessor including ActiveTrack that automatically follows subjects in motion.

DJI’s new smartphone gimbal will go up for pre-order on January 23, exclusively on Apple.com. You’ll be able to get it from DJI’s Flagship Stores, authorized retailers, and online shop starting in early February.
