Like 2020’s live-action movie Mulan, Raya and the Last Dragon is being offered on Disney Plus via an extra Premier Access fee, beyond the normal monthly fee. After you pay the normal $6.99 a month fee, you can unlock Raya and the Last Dragon for an additional $29.99. The good news is that after you unlock it, the movie will be able to watch and stream for as long as you have a Disney Plus subscription.
As with Mulan, the decision to add Raya to Disney Plus is due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which is keeping many people from going to theaters. It’s likely that Raya will be available for all Disney Plus subscribers at no additional cost a few months after its debut via Premier Access.
What is Raya and the Last Dragon about?
The movie itself is set in a fictional ancient Asian country called Kumandra. It centers on Raya, voiced by Kelly Marie Tran, who is trying to find the last remaining dragon to help defend her people against attacking monsters. Awkwafina is the voice of “the last dragon” Sisu who can also shape shift into a human. Other cast members include Gemma Chan, who voices Raya’s main enemy, Namaari, along with Daniel Dae Kim who voices Raya’s father Chief Benj, and Sandra Oh as Virana, Namaari’s mother.
