TL;DR
  • Best Buy has the JVC in-dash DVD player with Android Auto and CarPlay support for 50 percent 0ff.
  • The discount brings the unit down to $300 from its original $600 price tag.
  • JVC’s receiver also supports DVD playback and Bluetooth.

It’s not every day you find a deal on an in-dash DVD player that pulls double-duty as an Android Auto and CarPlay receiver, but that is what we have today with Best Buy’s $300 discount on JVC’s receiver.

The discount brings the unit down to $300, but we do not know how long the deal will last. Either way, the new price undercuts offerings from Sony and Pioneer, to name a few.

JVC’s receiver playsDVDs on its 6.8-inch display, and supports other video formats as well. You can connect your device either through the 3.5 mm auxiliary port or one of the two USB ports. JVC’s receiver also supports video and audio input, as well as video output.

You can also connect your phone to the receiver over Bluetooth, if you get annoyed with wires. The receiver also supports Google’s Android Auto and Apple’s CarPlay, but you must connect your phone to get that functionality.

Another thing to keep in mind is installation costs. You can have a Geek Squad employee install the JVC receiver for an additional $100, or save the money and do it yourself. Regardless, expect to pay more if you want to install components like a steering wheel interface or back-up camera.

Finally, keep the positioning of the receiver in mind. Even though you can tilt the JVC receiver up and down, some people complained of the display appearing washed out and dull. This could just be due to a person’s viewing angle, but it’s still something to note.
