Crowdfunding project of the week: Unleashed will turn your phone into a DSLR remote
We are back with the ‘Crowdfunding project of the week”, where we highlight some of the coolest campaigns in websites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo. You may not have time to be browsing through hundreds of projects, so we have taken it upon ourselves to do the hard work for you and introduce you with some of the coolest tech out there! Let’s get started.
Other featured campaigns:
- Dot is a smart notification light
- Shoka Bell for bicyclists
- CASE Remote Air helps control a DSLR camera wirelessly
Today we are taking a look at Unleashed, a product that will turn your smartphone into a full remote for your DSLR camera. We have seen plenty of these already, but there is something that makes this one special – it doesn’t add a big chunk of technology to your already large camera set.
In fact, it’s best feature is that you probably won’t even notice it’s there. The Unleashed is so small you can leave it connected at all times, and it won’t take over the hot shoe, so you can use your other accessories as you wish.
Once connected, the included app will give you full control over your camera. You can change the settings for the ISO, shutter speed, aperture, mode, flash, white balance and more. It’s also possible to control video, or take over multiple cameras simultaneously. The whole system is very simple and works via Bluetooth, so there’s also no huge learning curve.
Unleashed does support a large amount of Nikon and Canon cameras, but the modules are not exactly universal. There’s multiple versions for different types of cameras. But this is why they fit so well, though – each camera’s specific form factor is taken into account. You can look at the list of supported DSLRs and figure out which specific Unleashed version you have to get.
Interested? I know I am, but before making a decision we have to take a look at the price. Super Early Bird specials are all over, but you can still sign up for the Early Bird special at €109. Once those run out, the Kickstarter price for a single unit will run for €129. I would certainly buy it if I didn’t have to wait so long to get it. Shipments are expected for June 2017!
Are you signing up for one? I am definitely tempted.
