Comments of the Week: LG pricing, eighth anniversaries, and farewell to Josh
Fire up your Rebecca Black songs and get pumped, because it’s Friday! Along with it being time for partying partying (yeah), it’s also time for Comment Authority, our weekly roundup of the best comments on the site from you, our readers. This week we saw a ton of heartwarming comments directed towards departing Android Authority team member Joshua Vergara, as well as some not-so-heartwarming comments about the LG G7 ThinQ.
Without any further ado, let’s read some of the best comments of the week!
Goodbye, Josh!
On Friday last week, Joshua Vergara ended his six-year run working with Android Authority. Before he left, he took the time to pen a nice write-up about his experiences working here, as well as create a “thank you” video directed to all his fans.
The comments section of the article features nothing but love for Josh and lots of well-wishes for his future endeavors. One commenter by the name of Alberto Suarez made it abundantly clear just how much he will miss Josh:
When we mess up, you’re always there to help us out
Our very own Scott Adam Gordon wrote up an amazing piece about how the Xiaomi Mi 8 is the biggest rip-off of the iPhone X we’ve seen yet in the Android world (and that’s saying something). When you see the Mi 8 and the iPhone X side-by-side, it’s pretty difficult not to agree with everything Scott says.
However, there was one quick thing that Scott mentioned that wasn’t quite right, which was about eighth-year anniversaries. Luckily, one commenter named Jose Jimenez chimed in with a solid and helpful explanation of the error:
We didn’t know that this was an annual event
We post a lot of deals here at Android Authority, but the comment sections of those deal posts tend to be pretty barren. That was simply not the case with our recent post about a deal Best Buy is running for the LG G7 ThinQ that knocks $200 off the list price; there were more comments for that one deal article than probably all the deal articles that week.
One comment in particular in that thread from reader balcobomber25 stood out among the rest. Apparently, there’s an annual event that we’ve been missing out on:
Never forget
We’re coming up on the debut of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (which looks a lot like the Galaxy Note 8). But even though we’re almost two generations away from the Galaxy Note 7, we still can’t forget about the unfortunate explosions the oversized battery caused with that device.
That’s why one reader going by the moniker TheNewGuy had a quip ready when it was announced that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has been slightly delayed due to design concerns:
Hopefully, you all have a great weekend planned! Stay safe and have fun.
