Claude could soon get a feature that lets it peep into your bank account

Anthropic seems to be working on a new personal finance feature for Claude that could let the AI assistant connect to your bank accounts.

Leaker TestingCatalog spotted an unreleased “Money” section in the Claude mobile app for iOS. The feature’s onboarding screen says, “Understand your money with Claude,” followed by an option to link your bank accounts and ask Claude about “spending, plans, and more.”

The Money tab appears as a separate section in Claude’s mobile navigation, while there’s no sign of an equivalent feature on the web version. Anthropic also hasn’t announced the feature officially or revealed when it plans to launch it.

If it works as the current interface suggests, Claude Money could give Claude access to your transactions without requiring you to upload bank statements manually. The AI assistant could then possibly analyze your spending, identify recurring payments, summarize balances, spot trends, and help with budgeting.

We still don’t know how exactly the feature might work, which types of accounts will be supported, which financial data provider Anthropic will use, and whether Claude will eventually be able to take any actions on a user’s behalf.

Anthropic already offers finance-related connectors for Claude, including Era Context and PocketSmith, and has introduced finance agents for professional users. A dedicated Money section would bring some of those capabilities to regular Claude users as well.

Meanwhile, OpenAI has a similar feature called ChatGPT Finances, which lets eligible US users connect their financial accounts through Plaid and ask questions about spending, balances, subscriptions, net worth, investments, and financial planning.

A US-only launch for Claude Money would make sense, at least initially, given the differences in banking infrastructure and financial regulations between countries. For now, though, the feature’s release date and details remain unknown. It’s also unclear how the privacy side of things will be handled, given that linking bank accounts with AI could potentially have security implications.
