Chrono Trigger knock-off is here from original Chrono Trigger creators
There’s no question that Chrono Trigger is one of the greatest games of all time — just consult any “best of” list from pretty much any source and it’s likely to be on there. Even its sorta-sequel Chrono Cross gets plenty of accolades.
Although you can play the original Chrono Trigger on your Android device, there hasn’t been a new game created that’s quite like that one. However, the new game called Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space is very much like Chrono Trigger and even has some notable pedigree: namely, original Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross writer Masato Kato and original Chrono Trigger composer Yasunori Mitsuda.
If you’re going to make a Chrono Trigger knock-off, you might as well have the original crew do it, right?
Another Eden is JRPG-style free-to-play Android game, and it’s available now at the Google Play Store. The release says the game is worldwide, but we’ve had some Android Authority team members say they can’t find it in their countries. For what it’s worth, the game is definitely on the U.S. version of the Play Store.
How much is Another Eden like Chrono Trigger? First off, there’s a samurai character who looks like a frog whose name is Cyrus. If that’s not enough Chrono for you, there’s also references to clocks, time, and the future in the teaser trailer above. Lead character Aldo certainly has many similarities with Crono, and the game features multi-attack mechanics similar to the Tech mechanic of Chrono Trigger.
