TL;DR
  • The Chromecast for Google TV streaming dongle is launching in India.
  • It’s also coming to several more European countries, South Korea, Taiwan, and New Zealand.
  • Expect to pay €70 in Europe, but there’s no word on pricing for India.

Google launched its Chromecast for Google TV streaming device back in September 2020, offering a cost-effective way to enjoy streaming content. It’s only been available in the US, Australia, and several European countries, but that’s set to change soon.

Google has confirmed (h/t: Flat Panels HD and 9to5Google) that the Chromecast for Google TV is coming to India. There’s no word on pricing and availability just yet though, but there’s certainly no shortage of budget-priced competitors. Google’s device will have to contend with streaming gadgets from the likes of Amazon, realme, Xiaomi, and others.

Still, we thought the device stood out from the pack at the time of its release thanks to Google Assistant integration, a cheap price tag ($50 in the US), and the overhauled Google TV platform.

India isn’t the only market set to only receive the streaming gadget this year though. Google told Flat Panels HD that Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, and Taiwan are also getting the device.

Customers in the aforementioned European markets can get their hands on the Chromecast for Google TV from June 21 for €70 (~$75). We’ve asked Google about Indian pricing and availability and will update the article when it gets back to us.
