Android is synonymous to freedom.  But, that’s just half of the story.  The other half is that Android is also synonymous to fun.  The fun is most apparent in the huge volume of new Android game apps released weekly by game developers from all around the world.

We featured 15 of the best new Android games of the month last mid-August.  In this late August edition, we feature 15 more best new Android games for August.

What fun stuff did the devs provide us for the second half of August?  In this post, read about an Android game about

Magic Defender

Hordes of monsters are coming. Horrifying monsters are marching towards your castle walls. Are you ready to defend and keep the walls standing from enemy attacks? Ready your arrows and learn powerful spells to ward off enemies with the Magic Defender game.

Your main task is to protect your castle wall from enemy attack. You will be given health points for your castle. Once that point reaches zero, your wall will fall and the monsters will overtake your castle. You will need to shoot your enemies with the bow before they reach the wall. You can also perform spells. You can find spells that you have learned below the screen. Just tap and drag a spell to the area where you want to cast the spell. A circle landmark will also appear that shows the targeted area.

After each round, you will accumulate gold and gems. You can use those to buy new weapons, upgrade your attacking power, learn powerful spells, and build sturdier walls. If you can’t wait for your gold or gems to grow, you can exchange your real money for gold or gems through the app’s store.

The Magic Defender can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store, and, while testing the app, I didn’t find ads popping in the background.

Zombies are now spreading all over the city. Your main task will be to kill the zombies and survive as long as you can. That’s what Zombie Terminator is all about in a nutshell. It’s a side-scrolling, zombie-killing game.

You will be allowed to choose different missions. You can do missions that will require you to kill a specific number of zombies, survive the zombie attack for a given time, go to the escape point, and do a survival mission. At some point, you will also do boss battle and fight against horrifying zombie bosses.

After completing missions, you will accumulate gold points. You can use the gold points to buy new weapons, upgrade old ones, buy enough ammunition, or buy enough medical kits. Killing zombies will also let your character level up and unlock more weapons in the shop. If you can’t wait for your gold points to grow, you can also buy gold points from the app’s exchange store.

The Zombie Terminator app can be downloaded for free. This free app will also come ads supported. Ads will only appear at the top portion of screen every after doing a mission and won’t really bother the users from playing the game. The game also ran smoothly — no lags or bugs at all — on our test device.

Do you like taking care of pets? How about taking care of unique animals? If you do, you might certainly love the Monster Pet Shop app. This simulation game lets you manage a pet shop, and at the same time take care of your monster pets.

Just like a real pet, you will need to keep your monsters happy. You will need to bathe them, feed them, pet them, keep their habitat squeaky clean, and let them play their favorite toys. Pour your love upon your monsters and keep them happy. After some time, your monster will fully mature. Fully grown monsters will breed and grow unique monsters eggs. Take constant care of the eggs until they hatch. Breed your pets and discover new and cute monsters.

You cannot take care of all your fully grown monsters by yourself. That’s why you will need to offer them for adoption to your shop customers. Giving out a happy monster and fulfilling the request of your customers will let you earn additional points.

Monster Pet Shop can be played for free from the Google Play Store. It is a free game, but you will need to spend cash if you want to get additional Monster Berries.

It’s time for some brain workout. Do some mind curls and build your brain cells with The World’s Ultimate Brain game app on your Android device. This is a puzzle game that will surely work your brain out.

There are 4 modes in this game: Classics, Specialty, Survivor, and Endurance. The Classics mode is the default mode of the app. Here you will go through 4 quick tests to measure your overall brain skills. You will have a test in computing, identifying the same objects, a test to measure your logic, and a test for your short-term memory. After letting you go through tests, the game will then compile your score and will give your brain rank. You will also be rewarded with 10 brain cells for completing the Classics mode. You will need to unlock the three other modes using the brain cells.

Brain cells are used to exchange for power-ups and unlocking the other game modes. But, I didn’t find any option to buy additional brain cells. You will have to either play the Classics mode or download the sponsored apps to accumulate more brain cells.

The World’s Ultimate Brain game can be downloaded for free. Ads sometimes pop-out while you navigate the app’s main screen. The app will also push ads to your notification drawer, advertising some apps or offers that will let you accumulate more brain cells.

After the First Demon War, humanity prospered again and regained peace in the land. But, 100 years later, the dark forces once again threaten the peace of human land. The demons are starting to build their Demon Towers in Northern Udar. You must now set out on a quest to defeat the demons in Eternity Warriors 2, a role-playing game with smooth, stunning, high-definition 3D graphics.

You will be controlling a hero and fight hordes of demons. With every demon killed, you will be given experience points that will strengthen your hero. Earning a level will also let your hero unlock new skills and use power weapons.

The game also allows you to customize your hero. You can let your hero wear special armors, equip it with a dual axe, and many more. You can also buy items and extra potions from the game’s shop. The game allows you to play in multiplayer mode and accomplish missions with your friends.

Eternity Warriors 2 can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store. But, to buy additional items for the game, you’ll need to shell out cash.

When I think of penguins, my mind instantly conjures the image of Mumble from Happy Feet. Well, say goodbye to the image of the penguin as a cute adorable creature that needs protecting. Sword Penguin switches things up and arms this bird with a deadly weapon: a sword fish. Fight for your life against seals who have weapons of harm, such as squid and polar bears who are armed with a giant prawn!

The only way to defend yourself is with a large and rather deadly fish. Strike your enemies on your left by mashing the left button and strike the enemies on your right with the right button. Mash those buttons like crazy and make sure that none of your foes touch you or else it’s game over.

Sword Penguin is set against a colorful Japanese-inspired backdrop which changes with every few waves of enemies. Normal enemy seals are easy to dispatch and require only one hit. Polar bears, however, are made of tougher stuff and you’ll need to beat them several times with your swordfish before they surrender.

The game is ad-supported but ads are located in places you won’t be accidentally touching, such as in between the onscreen buttons and in the upper left corner of the app home screen.

While wearing less means being able to stay cool during summer, some really humid nights can have you regretting your bare skin. Like moths to a flame, mosquitoes can suddenly show up and they all want a sip of your blood. You can either keep them away by putting on some mosquito repellent or you can squish them. If you aren’t satisfied with their demise at your hands or if they’re just too fast for you to catch, then maybe you could release your frustration with Speed Touch.

Speed Touch pits you against pesky mosquitoes who are thirsting for your blood. Of course, your job is to take no prisoners. Every time a mosquito appears on your screen, you must squish it as fast as you can. Don’t let those mosquitos get away. With each mosquito that you fail to squash, you lose a star. After you lose the third star, it’s game over.

Watch out! Some mosquitoes are bringing bombs with them. The moment you touch that bomb, it’s game over for you.

Each mosquito killed fills the gauge at the top of the screen a little. Once that gauge is filled, you enter frenzy mode and you can quickly kill mosquitoes by sliding your finger across the screen. It wears off after a few seconds so make sure to get as many mosquitoes as possible.

Speed Touch is ad-supported but ads only appear on the Game Over screen and on the menu.

Do you know remember how our parents always tell us not to do crazy and potentially dangerous things? “Don’t jump from the second floor window,” “Don’t try to test some crazy apparatus to fly,” “Don’t attempt to cruise in a shopping cart,” the list goes on. If you’ve ever wanted to feel the wind in your hair and not while riding a car, Shopping Cart Hero 3 can help you achieve your dream.

Swipe to start running downhill and pick up momentum. When you’re approaching a sign that says “Get In!” tap anywhere on the screen for your stick figure to jump into its shopping cart. The closer you are to the sign when you jump in, the faster your shopping cart will go. When you reach the end of the cliff, tap anywhere to give your jump distance and height. The app also uses your device’s accelerometer so you can control how you land. Don’t tilt too far! Tilt gently and save your stick figure and earn some style points. Tilt too far and you might just kill your stick figure.

The more often you perform your crazy jumps, the more coins you accumulate. With these coins, you can purchase upgrades such as round wheels for your shopping cart, a helmet to save you from busting your head open, air bags to save you from a nasty fall, and tricks to give you even more points.

Shopping Cart Hero 3 is ad-supported but the ads do not get in the way of your game experience.

After dealing with annoying mosquitos and getting off the high of the adrenaline rush, it’s time to go back to the world of cute animals. Don’t worry, these animals won’t be armed with any dangerous fish. In fact, the puppies of Dog Pile are super cute and super fat. Someone might have fed them way too much dog food but their roundness is actually an advantage in this game.

The aim of the game is to launch a rolly polly puppy down a wall of obstacles and have it land and take out similarly colored puppies. A white puppy with brown spots, for example, can take out a group of puppies with the same coloring but not dark brown ones.

Tap the puppy at the top of the wall and help it navigate the series of pegs, platforms, and bells as it makes its way down to the puppies below. You’ll need to tilt your phone to guide your puppy. At first the wall obstacles seem simple but the more levels you play, the more complicated they become, especially when trampolines start figuring in.

The more obstacles your puppy bumps against, the more points you get. Try to snag as many doggie treats as you can for extra points.

You can only find ads on Dog Pile’s main screen. For those concerned, no real rolly polly puppies were harmed in the making of this game.

Does anyone still remember that Courage the Cowardly Dog episode with the alien chicken? if you’ve raised your hand then you’ll be delighted to know that Chicken Invaders 2 puts you in the shoes of someone who must save the world by defeating — you guessed it — fowl aliens.

Being of a fowl nature, these chicken invaders will be trying to shoot down your fighter ship with explosive eggs. Watch out for them! They’ll hurt and temporarily take you out of the game. Eggs aren’t the only things these aliens are raining down on you. They’ll also shower you with drumsticks and sometimes whole chickens for extra points. You can also get weapon powerups in the shape of gift boxes, so keep an eye open for them.

You start off the level with 5 hearts, but the more you get hit by exploding eggs, the more your hearts diminish. When you run out of hearts, it’s game over and the solar system will get overrun by chicken overlords.

You can unlock the full game and journey to every planet of the solar system, fighting off 100 waves of invading chickens. Keep firing through the waves and all the way to the final confrontation. You can also collect all 14 skill bonuses and upgrade your weaponry through 11 power levels.

Have you watched Studio Ghibli’s movies directed by Hayao Miyazaki? Or movies like Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Arrietty? If you have watched any of these films or have watched other masterpieces from the same director and studio, you’ll definitely get the same feeling when you play this game.

Spirits is a game with a very interesting concept for its gameplay, coupled with an equally interesting set of characters to play with. It is not one of those games that is not accented with a blast of colors; the game’s overall look is very minimal but fantastic and ethereal at the same time.

In the game, you help the spirits reach their goal. The spirits sprout out from fallen leaves and some of them are even used as sacrifices to help their fellow spirits reach the portal to their home. Tap on one spirit and you”ll have it blow gusts of wind in any direction you set, build a bridge of leaves, dig tunnels, or block currents. While it blows or does any of the four functions, the other spirits who pass by will surely be led to the goal.

Spirits is one of those games that gives off a relaxing but striking experience. The game has beautiful ambient music playing in the background, adding up to the feeling of surreality. This game is not like any other and playing it will definitely make you feel like you are in another world.

The game doesn’t have ads. It is a paid game worth its price. Get Spirits now and be transported to another realm.

Angry Birds was a huge hit a few years back when it first came out. Everybody was raving about the game and how fun and educational it was at the same time. Fun and education are two things you can also find in an almost similar game, Golden Ninja.

Golden Ninja follows the story of the ball-shaped Golden Ninja in his quest to save his girlfriend from the Dark Ninja Warrior. Help him navigate through obstacles and challenges through the use of his ninja skills — jumping, climbing vines, flying, and a whole lot more.

Maneuvering the Golden Ninja is a bit similar to how you control the birds in Angry Birds. Touch the Golden Ninja to show a guide as to where you want it to jump and land. Various obstacles will really challenge your wit and strategizing skills.

The game lets you play through 3 worlds amounting to 125 levels all in all. The game also boasts beautiful and intricate graphics, sure to amplify your gaming experience. Golden Ninja also has bonus levels you can play and it uses its original sound and music in the game.

Golden Ninja is free but it also has a pro version.

There’s definitely one grandma you shouldn’t try to piss off. Angry Gran 2 is the sequel to the highly-acclaimed Angry Gran where a grandma whacks people that pass by for no apparent reason. Well, who needs a reason when the game itself is really fun to play?

Angry Gran 2 is packed with a lot of new stuff and fun modes to play with. This time around, the angry senior brings her whacking expertise in other cities like Paris, Moscow, Cairo, New York, and more.

Angry Gran 2 also lets you customize what item granny uses to clobber people with. You get to use a bunch of things — golf clubs and umbrellas, just to name a few. You can also dress up granny in hilarious costumes that will surely make you love this game more.

In this game, you can also change the heads of passers-by with pictures taken from your device’s camera. The game lets you use a photo taken at that instant, not from your device’s gallery. Put the face of your friends and whack them crazy with a French bread or an electric guitar. This is a great game to play with your pals, too.

Angry Gran 2 has three modes of play — Normal, Casual, and Zombie. In Zombie mode, granny should hit the zombies to survive. Avoid hitting the Grim Reaper, because if you do, it’s game over for you. Hitting zombies is made more fun in this game and surely, you’d have a hard time putting the game down.

Angry Gran 2 is not ad-supported and it has no push notifications that litter your notification bar. If I were you, I’d head on to the Google Play Store and start whacking people with the angriest granny in the city.

Order Up!! To Go is a highly addictive time management game and cooking game rolled into one. You start off as a trainee in a burger joint where you take drive-through orders. You get to prepare and cook the orders made by the customers. If you are an achiever, you’ll definitely make sure that each preparation you do is perfectly done — from the slicing of tomatoes, to grilling patties, frying fries, or grating cheese.

After being a trainee, you get to work as a chef in another restaurant. You get to manage the operations like the number of a certain dish to be served in a day, according to how popular the dish is. You get to unlock specials that you can serve to customers, provided that you have enough coins to unlock the dish. If you ever run short on coins, you can always go back to the burger joint you first worked in to gain extra.

You also get to hire assistants to help you keep the restaurant together. Upgrades for equipment are also available, as well as cleaning services to keep your restaurant clean enough to avoid surprise visits from the health inspector.

Order Up!! To Go has really good graphics and sounds that can also make you drool at all the food you are preparing in the game. You get to practice your quickness and time management abilities with this game. Order Up!! To Go is absolutely free and is also free from ads.

Pebble Universe will test your patience and timing skills. Developed by Itatake.com, this game is a fresh take on games that require superb timing and strategy skills. The skills mentioned may seem a bit intimidating but the cute little pebbles will surely make up for all of it.

The game’s goal is to bump one pebble with another pebble to bring up pieces of their pebble hats to the monsters above who are waiting to eat them. The monsters, once hit by a small piece of pebble, pops and disappears. Popping the smaller monsters first will assure you of a bigger score. The Monster Prince should be popped last because once you pop him first, the level ends.

The game calls for great timing in tapping on the pebbles to make sure they bump each other. Most often than not, the challenge comes in when the paths that the pebbles roll down on are different in length or there are a lot of curves and turns. Fans are also placed in areas where they can help push the pebbles farther when they roll down.

The game’s graphics are smooth and great to look at. People who love cute things will adore the pebbles and the sounds they make. Pebble Universe also came out clean when we checked it for push notification ads, and of course, it can be downloaded for free. Get the game today and help the cute little pebbles fight off the evil monsters.
