Especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic, laughter could be the best medicine, which is why today we are giving you a list of the best comedies on Disney Plus.
The best comedies on Disney Plus:
Editor’s note: This list of the best comedies on Disney Plus will be regularly updated as the streaming service alters its portfolio.
1. The Simpsons Movie
Who doesn’t love The Simpsons? Many of the series’ countless episodes are available on Disney Plus, but if you don’t have years to spare, you can enjoy some good humor with The Simpsons Movie. This eccentric family takes you on an adventure in which The Simpsons find themselves fugitives of the law. It’s easily one of the best comedies on Disney Plus, so give it a watch.
2. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 and Vol. 2
These are technically adventure/superhero movies, but they are truly some of the best comedies on Disney Plus! Go on an adventure with Peter Quill and his misfit friends as they try to save the universe… and steal some things. Jokes are plentiful and the soundtracks are amazing. These are among the best comedies on Disney Plus and you will have a blast watching them.
3. Toy Story 1, 2, 3, and 4
Toy Story movies have become timeless classics with enough humor to make them some of the best comedies on Disney Plus. Turns out toys aren’t as inanimate as they seem. In the Toy Story movies these products turn to life when no one is looking and they go through some whacky adventures. Disney Plus has the four main movies, as well as a plethora of short films you can enjoy when you don’t feel like sitting through a whole movie.
4. Finding Nemo and Finding Dory
Finding Nemo captured viewers of all ages with its humor, silly animal behavior, and a clown fish in a quest to find his way back home. His father, Marlin, is also looking desperately, but Nemo gets help from Dory, a fish with memory problems. You guessed it, the second movie is about her. You can also imagine how funny these comedies on Disney Plus are, given the types of characters being featured.
5. Monsters, Inc.
Turns out monsters are real and they have a whole system to scare kids. Things go wrong when a girl named Boo gets into the monsters’ world. Sulley and Mike are now desperate to get her back to our own world, and it seems these monsters are more scared of her than the other way around. This situation takes them into quite the adventure and the movie is full of hilarious moments.
6. 10 Things I Hate About You
Teenage romantic comedies were all the hype towards the end of the 90’s, and this is one of the most popular ones. 10 Things I Hate About You tells the story of teenage rebel Patrick, who gets paid to date non-conformist Kat, all so her sister can also go on a date with Cameron (the one who paid Patrick). The story gets tangled as the odd couple falls in love. You can expect a good dosage of silliness mixed with an emotional touch from one of the best classic comedies on Disney Plus.
7. The Emperor’s New Groove
Emperor Cuzco wants a new paradisaical groove and he wants it in a place where a peasant lives. He is stubborn and a bully, but things change when he is turned into a llama and must partner with said peasant to regain the throne. The movie is crazy funny and full of quirky moments, making it one of the best comedies on Disney Plus.
8. Thor movies
If you haven’t watched Marvel’s Thor movies, you are in for a treat. These are fantasy/adventure movies but have a very funny nature that will spark many a laugh. Thor is actually quite the viking god, and his interaction with other gods and humans can get very hilarious.
There are three Thor movies. These are Thor, Thor: The Dark World, and Thor: Ragnarok. All are great and follow Thor as he saves worlds and brings balance to the universe… or tries to.
9. Freaky Friday
Tess and Ana are the typical mother/daughter duo. They constantly argue and don’t get each other. One day they find themselves in each other’s shoes after an argument at a restaurant. No, really. They switch bodies and must now live each other’s lives, which brings them closer together, but the whole situation makes for some hilarious moments. This is seriously a Disney Plus comedy you can’t miss.
Onward is based on a world with mythical creatures, but seemingly no magic. Turns out magic was simply rendered obsolete with technology advancements, so the world forgot about it. Ian gets to experience magic first-hand when he turns 16 and the duo discovers how to use magic to bring their long deceased father back for a day. They could only bring half of him, though. The lower half, to be exact.
These brothers go on a quest to find a magical stone they can use to bring the rest of their father back. Considering Barley’s crazy personality, the quest becomes a crazy mixture of laughter and adventure. It’s definitely one of the best comedies on Disney Plus.
