Update, February 2: B&H Photo is now shipping pre-ordered ZenFone Zoom devices in the U.S..
Original post, January 20: Does anyone remember the ASUS ZenFone Zoom that was unveiled all the way back in January last year? Earlier in the month ASUS revealed that the smartphone come point and shoot camera would finally arrive in February this year and that it would be sold exclusively though retailer B&H Photo. Pre-orders for the handset are now live with a $399 price tag.
The big feature is obviously the Zoom’s camera capabilities. The handset comes with a 13 megapixel rear sensor complete with 4-11mm f/2.7-4.8 optical zoom lens, 3x zoom, image stabilization, and laser autofocus technology. There’s also a front facing camera with a 5 megapixel resolution and f/2.0 aperture.
Other hardware specifications include a 5.5-inch FullHD display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection, a quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor and 4GB of RAM. Storage capacity comes in at 64GB with a microSD card slot, there’s a 3,000mAh battery, and 4G LTE connectivity.
The ZenFone Zoom will cost $399, which is not too bad for a mid-tier smartphone. You can pre-order the handset for delivery on February 1st, stock permitting. Just click the big orange button below.
