TL;DR
  • The rumored ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 may have been leaked in a video ahead of an eventual announcement.
  • Based on the video, the Zenfone Max Pro M2 features a glass back, dual rear cameras, and a notch.
  • ASUS might announce the phone by the end of 2018.

Even though ASUS launched the Zenfone Max Pro M1 earlier this year, is the company already close to announcing a sequel? That is what it looks like, if a video obtained by Slashleaks that allegedly showed off the Zenfone Max Pro M2 is anything to go by.

Based on the video, the Zenfone Max Pro M2 will ditch the 18:9 display of its predecessor for a taller display with the ever-polarizing notch up top. At least the notch appears to be relatively small compared to competitors’, and we can be thankful it does not feature two notches.

The changes continue around back, where it looks like the Zenfone Max Pro M2 swaps out its predecessor’s aluminum for glass. Even though the material swap takes away the unsightly antenna lines from before, you now have to worry twice as much about dropping and breaking the phone.

It also looks like the Zenfone Max Pro M2 retains the dual rear-camera setup and rear fingerprint sensor of the Zenfone Max Pro M1. Even the vertical alignment of the Zenfone Max Pro M1’s cameras remain intact on the supposed successor.

According to previous reports, the Zenfone Max Pro M2 features a 6.2-inch display with 2,280 x 1,080 resolution, dual rear 12- and 5-megapixel cameras, 13-megapixel selfie sensor, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 processor, either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of storage, and a huge 5,000mAh battery. The phone also reportedly runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, albeit the stock version with little to no bloatware.

ASUS might announce the Zenfone Max Pro M2 by the end of 2018 and have it available for purchase in early 2019.
