You’re checking Android’s notification history all wrong
Oct 21, 2026 — 10:35 AM ET

- If you want to check your notification history, there’s an overlooked shortcut you should be using.
- Tapping on “You’re all caught up” in the notification shade will take you directly to the notification history page.
- You’ll need to have notification history toggled on to see your old alerts.
It’s something that’s happened to us all at some point. A notification comes in, and when you go to check it out, you accidentally dismiss it before you meant to. Fortunately, Android has a notification history page where you can see all your recently dismissed and snoozed notifications. Getting to this page only takes a couple of steps, but did you know there’s a much faster way to get there?
If you want to see a recently dismissed notification, the standard way to do so is to open Settings. On the Settings page, you’ll want to locate and tap on the Notifications option. From there, hit Notification history, and voila, you’ll be right where you want to be. However, keep in mind that you’ll need to have notification history turned on to see your old alerts. If the setting is toggled off, all you’ll see is a blank page informing you that notification history is turned off.
It’s not an arduous journey to get to the Notification history page, but it’s not exactly quick either. If you want a faster way to see your previous pop-ups, there’s an overlooked shortcut you’re probably not using. Get ready to log this one under the “I was today years old when I learned” file.
Which of these Android features do you think is underrated?
As Redditor u/Low-Bit-622 points out, there’s a shortcut to the Notification history page hiding in plain sight in the notification shade. When the notification shade is free of active alerts, you’ll usually see a “You’re all caught up” message. You may not have noticed, but this message is more than just text in the middle of the screen.
That’s right, this message was a shortcut all along. When you tap on this message, you’ll be transported directly to the Notification history page. This allows you to bypass all the steps you have to follow using the standard method. Of course, you’ll still need to have “Use notification history” turned on to see your recent notifications.
