Android Marshmallow rolling out to the Galaxy Note 5 in India
Quickly following up from its Galaxy S6 Marshmallow roll out in India last week, Samsung has now released a similar update for its Galaxy Note 5 in the country. The update weighs in at a substantial 1.27GB, so find a WiFi hotspot, and carries the version number N920GDDU2BPC4.
The contents of the update are virtually identical to the Galaxy S6 update that landed in the country last week. There’s the latest tweaks to Samsung’s TouchWiz interface, a new web browser, and some additional animations. On Google’s side of Marshmallow there’s Now on Tap, advanced app permissions, Doze, and more. Not forgetting that this is an update straight to Android 6.0.1, so you get the full suite of the latest emojis too.
India was one of the major launch countries to receive the Galaxy Note 5 last year, while other regions saw the S6 Edge Plus handset instead. So we can see why Samsung has been working to push out this update in India following a release in the US and Korea a month ago. If the OTA notification hasn’t appeared on your Note 5 yet, head on over to Settings > About device > Software update to force a manual check.
