TL;DR
  • Amazon has unveiled two new AI transcription devices under the Bee brand, called the Frontier and Eclipse.
  • The Frontier is a fitness band-style device that attaches to your wrist or clothing, while the Eclipse magnetically attaches to the back of a phone.
  • The Frontier is available now on Amazon, but the company didn’t provide a date for the Eclipse’s availability.

We got an early look at the Bee Pioneer at CES 2025, an always-listening AI assistant that attaches to your wrist or clothes for conversation summaries and insights. Bee, which has since been acquired by Amazon, has now launched two new products, including a magnetically attaching device for your phone.

In a blog post published today, Amazon officially announced the Bee Frontier and Bee Eclipse. The Frontier follows last year’s Pioneer and includes an “ultra-soft” silicone band you can wear on your wrist or attach to a piece of clothing.

The Bee Frontier

It has no display or health-tracking features. Instead, the Frontier sports dual microphones and a single button to let you control microphone access.

An LED indicator shows when it’s listening, and you can also configure the Frontier to disable the microphone after a set interval if no audio is detected, such as 10 minutes, 15 minutes, and so on. Its battery can last up to a week on a full charge, and you can recharge it via the USB-C port as needed.

The Bee Eclipse

The Bee Eclipse, by contrast, is a new form factor for the company and attaches magnetically to the back of supported phones. Thanks to its larger size, the Eclipse can last for up to 21 days on a full charge, the company says. Like the Frontier, this magnetic attachment also recharges via USB-C and has a button to turn the microphone on or off.

You can get the Bee Frontier in Onyx, Lavender, and Sage colors for $74.99 via Amazon, while the Eclipse will reportedly be “available soon” for $99.99 in Silver, Midnight, Honey, and Blush trims.

Amazon says the new Bee devices process audio in real time and delete it later. Both are built on Bee Private Compute, a secure environment where the data isn’t accessible to anyone, including Amazon.

Summaries and transcripts of conversations will be accessible via the Bee mobile and desktop apps, while you can also pair it with Alexa+ for access via compatible Echo devices. The Bee Frontier and Eclipse can also be linked to Gmail, Google Calendar, and Microsoft Outlook.

There’s a subscription, too

Buying either of the new Bee devices doesn’t guarantee access to all of its features, though. All customers get 14 days of memory, recaps, and conversation summaries at no cost. But with an $11.99/month Bee Pro subscription, that’s upgraded to unlimited recent conversation summaries, plus integration with Amazon.com, Alexa+, and third-party apps.

Other benefits include daily memories, a chat assistant, and conversation templates. Surprisingly, the Bee desktop app also seems limited to Bee Pro subscribers. New customers get a free month of Bee Pro.

While AI-powered transcription devices are abundant today, Amazon hopes deep integration with services like Alexa+ and its own marketplace will convince users to try them.
