Alto's Odyssey publisher releases Absolute Drift, a zen drifting game for Android

Alto’s Odyssey publisher Noodlecake Studios announced Absolute Drift, a zen-like drifting game from indie developer Dune Casu.

As the name implies, Absolute Drift features a drifting mechanic that makes it tricky to maneuver through the track. The tires are there for a reason, though — the game expects you to crash often, and you will crash often.

Thanks to the zen-like nature of the game, however, you don’t feel like the game punishes you for crashing. There is no one to race against or timer to beat — you can take as much time as you want to complete the events. The soundtrack is mostly comprised of electronic music that is just enough to perk you up, but chill enough to not serve as a distraction.

Absolute Drift rewards you with points as you successfully drift your way through the free-roaming environment and complete different drifting events. Certain tracks also feature multipliers that let you further rack up those points and climb the online leaderboards. There is no pressure to get as many points as you can, however — the multipliers are positioned where you almost have to go out your way to collect them.

Like the PlayStation 4 version of Absolute Drift, the Play Store version of the game includes the Zen Mode content. The content includes up to six customizable cars, five free roaming areas, three different game modes with 34 levels, custom event and drift line challenges, and five “Midnight Events” for those who want to ramp up the difficulty. As a bonus, Absolute Drift also supports Bluetooth controllers.

Absolute Drift is available for $2.99 and features no in-app purchases.
