More Samsung tablets with AMOLED displays coming this year?

Samsung is considering an investment in a 6.5G factory that would produce medium size panels OLED for tablets and laptops. We might see AMOLED displays on tablets of all sizes, laptops, and Chromebooks, as soon as this year.

With Samsung officially upgrading the international Galaxy Tab 7.7 to Android 4.0 way back in July, it only seemed natural for users of Verizon’s LTE version to expect the same treatment from good ol’ Big Red.

Android ICS update for Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 is now available via Kies

When we heard a couple of weeks back that Samsung was planning to update pretty much its entire portfolio of Android tablets to Ice Cream Sandwich in July and August, we were willing to bet big money that the actual updates will not start until the end of July, at the earliest.

However, Sammy has pleasantly surprised us all a couple of hours back, when it officially kick-started the promised Android 4.0 rollout with a tasty Ice Cream Sandwich software package for the Galaxy Tab 7.7.

Adopters of the 7-incher shouldn’t however wait for automatic prompt messages to encourage them to install the ICS update, because the upgrading process will not happen over-the-air. [...]

Samsung Galaxy Tab owners will be thrilled to hear that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade they’ve been waiting for so many months will start rolling out next month. The update will be available for various Galaxy Tab models, including the Galaxy Tab 10.1, 8.9, 7.7 and 7.0 Plus. In fact, here’s the complete list of Galaxy Tab tablet models that will get ICS:

Best tablets of 2012 – the essential selection so far

There is no single tablet out there that can satisfy everyone’s needs, although they come in variety of sizes, specs, and prices.
