Android 4.0 ICS is now available for Panasonic Eluga via Google Play app

by: AdrianNovember 1, 2012
Though Panasonic’s second European retreat is just about confirmed, the company hasn’t forgotten about the handful of existing Eluga owners there. Android 4.0 ICS is finally being rolled out to the 4.3-incher, and, while it was long overdue, it should still be met with some excitement.

Rumor: Panasonic to withdraw (again) from European mobile market

by: AdrianOctober 26, 2012
Panasonic certainly started out its new mobile European adventure with some bold goals, but things didn’t go down as the Japanese hoped. With just two pretty average high-end phones, which had trouble being released when they were still moderately attractive, it couldn’t have been any other way, but instead of trying to be better, Panasonic seems to have abandoned the fight altogether.

Panasonic Eluga starts selling in the UK, only £369 for the unlocked version

by: AdrianApril 26, 2012

If you thought that Panasonic was kidding when it announced some time ago that it intends to take Europe by storm with its new Eluga and Eluga Power smartphones, you thought wrong, boys and girls!

Less than a month after the official Japan release and just a couple of days after popping up for sale in Germany, the Eluga has started selling in the UK, with several other European markets expected to follow suite within a week or so. The smartphone is, for the time being, available for all you British blokes out there in an unlocked version, from Expansys. The model, without any carrier or network restrictions, retails for £369.99. That’s around €460, or $610, which you [...]

Panasonic Eluga available in Japan on March 29th, Europe in April

by: Danic FilipMarch 22, 2012

It seems like Panasonic decided to step things up and make the Panasonic Eluga available in Japan a month ahead of the scheduled European launch. There are different theories as to why Panasonic decided to reschedule (seemingly out of the blue) the launch of the Eluga, but it’s certain that the phone will hit the stores in Japan on March 26 via NTT Docomo.

For Panasonic, the assumed objective of the Eluga is to make a difference on the unique Japanese phone market, by moving away from the look and feel of most competing phones. As a company representative said, Panasonic is “trying to offer a great experience free from the bells and whistles found on phones for [...]

What Will Be the Best Android Phone of 2012?

by: Shaleen SinhaFebruary 26, 2012

[Updated: February 21st, Updated: February 27 Updated: March 20 Updated: May 20]

The year 2011 was all about “dual core” becoming the standard for high-end smartphones. And we have all witnessed what yesteryear’s superphones like the Samsung Galaxy S II, DROID RAZR MAXX, and others are capable of. The following phones are much more powerful than anything released last year, and for this upcoming generation of devices, even more.

So, what next? This year, chip-makers have come forth with quad core processors supporting mobile multitasking comparable to the performance of a desktop computer of a few years ago, powered by Tegra 3 SoC’s and TI’s OMAP [...]

by: Christine TorralbaFebruary 20, 2012

Earlier today, Fujitsu announced that they will be debuting at the Mobile World Congress so they can inform the Europe market that they will be selling their smartphones there. Panasonic has followed suit and has announced that they will be bringing the Panasonic Eluga handset to the Eurozone within the year. This marks the Eluga as the first high-end Android smartphone that will be making a debut outside its motherland, Japan.

With regard to the specs of the device, the Eluga is believed to have a NFC capability and qHD display. It also has a 4.3-inches screen, OLED display, and a capacitive menu button. Even though Panasonic did not announce which version the Eluga’s [...]
