Sony sends invites for MWC 2017 press conference, two new phones expected

Sony is anticipated to reveal two midrange smartphones, though they won't be from the Xperia Z, M, E or C lines.

Sony Mobile has started sending invitations to its Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 press conference. The event will take place on Monday, February 27 at 8.30am CET and will be livestreamed from the official Sony Mobile site.

At the trade show, which takes place in Barcelona, Sony is anticipated to reveal two new midrange smartphones, while waiting until later in the year to launch its next flagship.

Sony introduced its Xperia X, Xperia XA and Xperia X Performance at MWC 2016, which would make 2nd gen/2017 editions of those handsets a possibility for this year’s show. Sony confirmed last year that it wouldn’t release any further devices in the Xperia Z, M, E or C lines.
