sony xperia z3 compact review aa (7 of 21)

Lucky entrants into Sony’s Marshmallow concept build program first managed to lay their hands on the beta operating system, which is based on stock Android, last week. Today, Sony has begun rolling out its first OTA update for the group.

Marshmallow-Concept-OTA-updateThe updated build is numbered MRA58K.Z1.2085 and contains a selection of new features. Tap to wake is now supported, as its MIDI via USB and a new updated keyboard. The OS now also supports higher bit-rate FLAC audio content, which will please the audiophiles out there.

Currently, the Marshmallow Android Concept program is only available to a select number of Xperia Z3 (D6603) and Z3 Compact (D6603) smartphone owners in the following European countries: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Sony hasn’t suggested if or when more countries will be able to join the program, but you can always check out Sony’s app from the Google Play Store to try your luck for an entry ticket into the group.

The update should be hitting devices in the program within the next few days.

Updated 5 days ago, tap2wake welcomed. You can find flashable ftf on xda thats how i did it.
Battery life pretty inconsistent for me, doze not really working as of yet.
Otherwise, i really like the naked 6.0 with some Sony apps here and there.

My experience is much better. Never seen faster, more fluid UI on any Android devices, also my battery life is much more than it used to be.

Tab to wake? What’s the difference between that and double tap to wake? Cause since the 5.0 I can do that with my Z3c.

      • SkyS1gn

Same thing… but it was missing from the first 6.0. Concept build. THey readded it now.

That happened a week ago. But it’s Sony-related so obviously AA doesn’t give a shit. Surprised you mentioned it at all. If it was Samsung or HTC there would already be a hands-on video review…

  • Simon

Yay, too bad I have the Z3+. It’s basically the same device, I don’t understand why Sony wont release a concept build for it too…

    • I have the same device. I found my z3 to be, better tbh.

    • Svnjay

      It’s not the same device.

      • Simon

No it’s not but still it is.
