real racer 3

Racing games fans know Real Racing, the mobile franchise from Electronic Arts, developed by its Australian studio Firemint. Last week, it was revealed that EA merged Firemint with its other mobile development studio in Australia, Iron Monkey, the makers of Need for Speed for iOS, to form one big mobile studio, aptly dubbed Firemonkeys.

The first project of the new Firemonkeys team is Real Racing 3, a stunning-looking arcade racer that promises to push the boundaries of mobile gaming. Firemonkeys released a trailer for the upcoming game on their Facebook page, and it looks nothing short of amazing. I had to double check to ensure that this will indeed be a mobile game, and not a title for the Xbox 360 or the PS3.

Judge for yourselves.

I mean, those reflections… Sadly, we’ll have to wait an unspecified amount of time before we get to overheat our devices playing Real Racer 3. The trailer is based on an alpha release of the game, so I assume that the title is fairly early in development. Moreover, EA has the tendency to let Android fans hanging by releasing its mobile games on iOS months before they hit Google Play.

To make the wait easier, why don’t you try out Real Racer 2, which looks pretty good itself and is a worthy competitor to Gameloft’s popular Asphalt 7: Heat.

Real Racer 2 is now just $0.99 on Google Play, down for a limited time from its regular price of $4.99. For penny pinchers, that’s 80% off, and a great deal no matter how you look at it.
