New Android phones come to market extremely often, all with bigger and better features than the last. Not only that, good smartphones are getting cheaper, too. Nowadays you can buy a flagship smartphone for well under $500, and even a great mid-range or low-end device for sub-$250.

Now more than ever, it’s easier than ever to upgrade to a new smartphone without breaking the bank.

Plus, most carriers have finally gotten away from the standard two-year contract system, meaning most customers aren’t necessarily “locked in” with the same phone for multiple years anymore. Buying a phone unlocked or through a payment plan is now becoming the norm, and people are upgrading their devices at a much more rapid rate.
