Opera Mini notifications

Opera today announced that a few handy new features would soon be making their way to both Opera and Opera Mini browsers for Android.

Perhaps the biggest news here is the fact that video compression is making its way to Opera for Android, which will shrink the size of online videos so you won’t use up as much data. To turn this feature on, simply head to the Settings menu, tap Data savings, and tick the little box next to Video compression. Also new in Opera for Android is the ability to add websites to your device’s home screen, which is quite the handy addition.

Opera Mini is also getting a few new features. The slimmed-down browser is gaining download notifications, which will be able to let you know once your files are finished downloading. Also, if you happen to use a ton of tabs, you can now open a new tab without leaving the page you’re currently on. The new tab will open up in the background, and you’ll be able to quickly switch between between them if need be.

The Opera team also says that both Opera for Android and Opera Mini are getting a visual refresh with the company’s new logo that was first introduced back in September. Both of these sizable updates should now be live in the Play Store, so follow the links attached below to update to the latest versions.
