TL;DR
  • The OnePlus Nord CE and U-series TV will launch on June 10.
  • OnePlus Nord contributed to 200% year-on-year growth, the firm claimed.
  • The firm subsequently revealed that the Nord N200 5G will also be launched soon.

Update: May 27, 2021 (9:28 AM ET): OnePlus has now revealed that it will also launch the Nord N200 5G soon. The firm explained that while the Nord CE is aimed at European and Indian users, the Nord N200 5G will come to North America and is focused on making 5G more accessible (suggesting a cheap 5G phone).

OnePlus reiterated a June 10 launch date for the Nord CE, but said North American consumers should “stay tuned” for launch details regarding the Nord N200 5G. This suggests that it won’t debut at the June 10 event.

Original article: May 27, 2021 (7:09 AM ET): Following the launch of the OnePlus 9 series, the company is turning its gaze towards the popular and competitive mid-range segment in India. The company expanded its lineup with the OnePlus Nord last year, and now, rumors suggest that the company might be looking towards a more mass-market competitor.

At a media roundtable held recently, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed to Android Authority that the company will introduce the OnePlus Nord CE (Core Edition) as part of its summer lineup. The phone is expected to be revealed on June 10. The device is focused on delivering the “core excellent features” needed in a product while bringing the signature OnePlus experience along. Accompanying the product will be a new smart television as part of the company’s budget OnePlus U-series line up.

The OnePlus Nord was a roaring success for the company in India and helped OnePlus increase its market share 200% year on year in the 4th quarter of the year. Lau continued that the OnePlus Nord was instrumental in the increasing market share.

The launch of the OnePlus Nord CE comes at a time when the company is looking at a more premium, upward trajectory for the flagship lineup. While the OnePlus Nord bolsters the mid-range lineup, the Nord CE should give the company room to grow in the lucrative entry-level segment.

Later this year OnePlus is also expected to expand its lineup of true-wireless products as a continuing effort towards building an ecosystem. OnePlus recently launched the OnePlus Watch and OnePlus Band to less than stellar reviews.
