NVIDIA Shield Tablet gets Android 6.0.1, support for the Vulkan API, and more in latest update

NVIDIA has just released a sizable update for the original Shield Tablet that brings a number of bug fixes, new features, security enhancements and much more.

The biggest news here is that the Shield Tablet now supports the new Vulkan API that will give it better access to Shield’s graphics hardware to provide an overall better gaming experience. Also, the Shield Tablet is getting a software bump up to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with repositioned navigation buttons in landscape mode, new emoji, and a new shortcut that lets you launch the camera app with a quick double tap of the power button.

Also, it appears NVIDIA has fixed some HDMI output issues with Doom 3, Gamepad Mapper issues, Compass functionality, as well as issues with moving apps to the SD card.
