The Nexus 7 is Google’s flagship tablet. It is also Android’s most popular tablet. Thanks to its powerful specs, HD screen, and very attractive price point, the Nexus 7 remains the best offering on the market today. The Nexus 7 has a 7 inch screen, and a very slim bezel, making it significantly easier to hold than its predecessor, the original Nexus 7.

In this article we will teach you had to take a screen shot on your new Nexus 7. You’ll find many reasons to use this feature on your Nexus 7, so let’s go ahead and see how its done.

The Nexus 7 runs stock Android software. The first thing that you need to do is press on the volume down and the power button at the same time. The screen with flash and a shutter sound will sound to indicate the screenshot was captured. The image is saved into the Gallery under the folder Screenshots.

At this point you can slide down the notification shade, and view the image. Or you can press on share to share it with any application. Just like with any other share operation on Android, you can select from an array of applications for sharing.

We hope that helps you. It’s a rather easy operation, but a good one. Let us know your thoughts down below, and if you’re interested in more Nexus 7 (2013) coverage, then click here.

I don’t know why but for some reason I am not able to take screenshot my New Nexus 7. I press power + vol down at the same time but nothing happens. I press power+ vol up and the vol goes up :/

It isn’t a quick press of both buttons but rather a press and hold both for roughly one second.

If you don’t end up shutting the display off, just turning the volume down, or holding just the power button too long and getting a prompt to shutdown or reboot.

On mine (2013) I need to hit both at the same time. It would be nice if it would register as a screen shot if one is hit first, then the other is hit and held. I have smaller hands and with a case only can do it 30% of the time.

This is the worst key combo in the world. You need to push “volume down” button, and “power” button at the same side. They should have used “home” and “power” or anything else. The volume and power buttons on the Nexus are difficult enough to find w/o looking at the side alone. Let alone using two hands (if you have smaller hands) to press both at the some time, while they’re on the same side of the screen.

Mine with a case, I can do it 30% of the time. I usually shut the display off with the power button or turn the volume down.

I hate to be that guy, but does anyone know what that wallpaper is?

  • c0mrade

I don’t think it is a wallpaper… I think more of some kind of MOD or Theme… Maybe Cyanogen 10? Coz not only the wallpaper is different but the icons are bricked too

  • mandy

It takes me a few tries and then I always get the volume bar in my screenshot.

Recently I was really, really low on money and debts were eating me from all sides! That was UNTIL I decided to make money on the internet! I went to surveymoneymaker dot net, and started filling in surveys for cash, and surely I’ve been far more able to pay my bills! I’m so glad, I did this!!! – iouk

I had problems doing it, too… very hit and miss, mostly miss. Once it took a screenshot with part of the screen obscured by the volume slider! Then I discovered that it had to be the power button and the volume DOWN button. Now it works every time.
