Motorola took their latest Moto X (2014) Android powered smartphone and put it in the hands of a professional drone pilot. Unleashing the drone on San Francisco, Motorola has since posted the 4K video captured by the flight for all to enjoy.

Except, you can’t see it. Not really anyway. We hope that Motorola will re-upload, but the video is currently limited to just a maximum of 1080P playback.

What is important here is the reminder that the new Moto X (2014) is capable of shooting UHD 4K video. Making the Moto X one of only a handful of devices yet able to do so. Not to be discouraged by the lack of 4K playback at this time, the 1080P video shows that the Moto X (2014) can at least do a great job of capturing respectable quality video.

Personally, I was very impressed with the stability of the imagery. I would have expected a little less quality from a non-OIS equipped camera in flight.

The Motorola Moto X (2014) is a great option of a phone, and a nice update from the 1st Gen. Moto X from last year. The new camera is equipped with a 13MP sensor and a new ring design dual LED flash. Moto X (2014) owners, do you ever shoot video in 4K?
