When it comes to device manufacturers, Motorola is likely the one we think of when we hear the term “quick updates” right now. It looks like the Lenovo-owned company isn’t slowing down, as it recently updated its Update Services app for the Moto G (1st Gen.) in preparation of Lollipop.

How do we know this update will help bring Lollipop in the future? It’s spelled out in the changelog: “this update is necessary to enable a future upgrade of your device to Android 5.0, Lollipop.” We’re unsure when the Lollipop update will actually begin rolling out, but we’re sure this means it’s coming sooner rather than later.

When Lollipop hits the 1st Generation Moto G, expect to see a visual overhaul, improved notifications, tons of updated security settings, as well as Motorola’s suite of apps like we’ve seen on the Moto X and the Moto G (2nd Gen.). Motorola is continuing its trend as an OEM that cares about prompt updates, and it’s nice to see them move forward on an older device, such as the Moto G (1st Gen.).

We’ll keep an eye out for an update – it shouldn’t be long.
