We’ve already got an idea of how Samsung plans to implement Lollipop on its TouchWiz devices, thanks to the leaks of SamMobile. But until now we could only watch, not play with Samsung’s new software. That’s changing thanks to an anonymous source who provided XDA-Developers moderator garwynn with a test build for the Sprint Galaxy S5 (SM-G900P).

Being a non-final build, it’s very likely that the official update to Lollipop will differ to some extent. The good news is garwynn found that all the core functionality of the device works, though, as with any unofficial software, your mileage may vary.

You will need to flash the full image, so you will lose the data on the phone – a full backup is highly recommended. While the process of flashing this Lollipop build is straightforward, do not attempt it unless you’re confident you can handle it. Also, this is for the Sprint model only, so do not flash it on any other variant.

Once you complete the flashing process, you can root the device thanks to Chainfire’s CF Auto Root tool. Head over to the XDA-Developers thread for more details.
