If you’re interested in the upcoming Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL or Project Fi-compatible Moto X4, we have some good news for you. Google just announced a new trade-in program for Project Fi customers that lets you take as much as $165 off your order when you trade in a qualifying Nexus device. You can also get an additional $50 in Project Fi credit if you act by October 5.

As of right now, it’s unconfirmed if this program will move beyond Fi. A screenshot obtained by Droid Life does seem to suggest that we will see it move to the Google Store soon. In the image, we can clearly see text under the buy button that says “The amount you’re credited depends on the model and condition of your phone.” We don’t have all of the details at this time, but this seems like an obvious reference to the new trade-in program. Google has since pulled the reference from the Pixel’s order page.

Further evidence for the program is found in one of Google’s FAQ pages. According to the page, Google will be teaming up with Apto Solutions Inc. and Hyla Inc. for the trade-in program. It speaks of initial quotes, final trade-in quotes, and more. It looks like you’ll have 30 calendar days to send in your trade-in device after you buy your new phone.

Interestingly enough, you’ll have the option to have your device returned to you if the initial quote is higher than the final value. If you do decide to go through with the trade-in, you’ll be able to receive your credit in the form of a credit to your original form of payment, a store or service credit for usage in the Google Store, a Google Play credit, or any combination of those methods.
