Ever since Google launched the revamped Google Photos application in May 2015, the service has quickly become one of the most popular photo sharing platforms in recent years. How popular has it become? As of today, just five months after the service went live, Google Photos has reached over 100 million monthly active users. To celebrate this impressive milestone, Google has given us a good look at what type of photos we’ve all been taking since the service launched.

For starters, aside from photographing our friends and family, food is what we photograph most often. And when it comes to taking pictures at specific events, weddings take the top spot, followed by concerts, Christmas time photos and pictures of people dancing. Dogs are apparently the number one most photographed animal, and Paris is the most photographed place in the world, followed by New York and Barcelona. Also, babies hold the top spot for the subject we search for most often.

Google also says we’ve created more than 15 million animations and collages, and the company has freed up 3,720 terabytes of storage thanks to the free backup storage option.

Recently, Google Photos gained Chromecast support, a feature that’s been noticeably missing since the service’s decoupling from Google+ Photos. Do you use Google Photos? If so, how are you liking it?
