Original post: Around 100 million people use Facebook events on a daily basis. That’s why the company decided to launch a standalone Events app back in October. Initially available for iOS devices, the app is now making its way over to Android. According to TechCrunch, Facebook will release the Android version of its Events app today.

The app lets you search for events that are scheduled near your location, and check out the ones your friends are going to as well as those announced by the Pages you like. You can also browse through recommendations that are based on time, location, and your interests, or find interesting events with the help of an interactive map.

The app comes with its own calendar, which is especially handy if you’re a heavy user and attend a lot of events. It’s able to pull in appointments from other calendar apps on your device too, to make sure you can see everything in one place.

Even though Events is a standalone app, your activities within the app will still be seen on your Facebook profile. These include, among other things, the events you are interested in or are going to attend. As already mentioned, the app might be launched today, which means you’ll be able to download it to your device via the Google Play Store.

If you’re thinking of trying out the app once it’s released, let us know by posting a comment down below.
