Crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo are teeming with innovation, but there is also plenty of stuff that probably isn’t worth your time. In this series we aim to curate you a list of the best crowdfunding projects around.

Today we are taking a look at YOUMO, a power strip that aims to solve your ongoing charging woes with a modular design and the promise of a product that will always adapt to your own needs.

We can all agree most power strips are really basic, right? I mean, you are lucky if you get your hands on a power strip that has USB ports for charging devices directly. This is why YOUMO caught our eye. It is a smart power strip of sorts.

What makes YOUMO special is its flexibility. It is is made by modules that adapt different purposes and can be connected together. Need European outlets? Simply plug in the right accessory to the base line. Then you can add an American iteration for those of us from this side of the world. You can expand at your own will.

But the team is not stopping there. They have created modules with USB ports, power surge protection and a WiFi repeater. They have also made ones with light, wireless charging and even a Bluetooth speaker.

The idea is so simple, yet very convenient. But how much will all it cost you? It depends on how much you need. Sadly, all early bird specials are gone. But right now you can get your hands on 1 base cord and your choice of 2 modules by backing the Kickstarter campaign with as low as €39. Adding more accessories would increase the price.

The €50,000 goal has been far surpassed, so you can support freely. The only downside is that shipments are not expected until February 2017. I don’t know if I can be that patient. Can you? Hit the comments to let us know!
